According to Remington these tablets are formed by compression and in their siplest form, contain no special coating. they are maded from powdered, crystalline or granular materials, alone or in combination with binders, disintegrants, controlled-release polymers, lubricants, diluents and in many cases colorants. the vasr majority of tablets commercialized today are compressed tablets, either in an uncoated or coated state.
Compressed tablets are prepared by single compression using tablet machines. After a quantity of powdered or granulated tableting material flow into a die, the upper and lower punches of the tablet machine compress the material under a high pressure (~tons/in2).
